Direct Import Associate - Ottawa, Ontario

The Direct Import Associate position is an ideal opportunity for you to put your 2-3 years experience in retail into good use. You will be responsible for ensuring that Direct Import quotes and samples are obtained and verified in a timely fashion for Buyers. Interacting with all levels of the organization will come with ease to you as you have strong communication skills and you have the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Job Highlights

Main contact for China Vendors
Obtain and verify quotes and samples from overseas vendors
Set up or update sku and Purchase Orders
Translate sku English description to French as needed
Responsible for sending Purchase Orders to overseas vendors and ensure timely deliveries
Order pre-production samples and/or production samples for Buyer’s approval
Log and monitor import Orders in Tracking System
Approve price sticker and UPC label and request packaging for Buyer’s approval
Proofread packaging details on production samples
Follow-up on import PO’s until booking is made by overseas vendors
Assist in organizing the company buying show
Process import claims
TSSA registration contact for application & file maintenance
Build/prepare reports as required

Job Requirements

Post secondary education in Business Administration (or related program)
2 - 3 years experience in retail (general merchandise experience an asset)
Strong computer skills – work experience with Excel a must and AS/400 an asset
Strong analytical skills and attention to details
Ability to work with reports and make suggestions/recommendations based on available data
Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills to be able to interact with all levels of the organization
Strong organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time constraints
Bilingual (English & French) an asset
